Kel is leading the teams responsible for secure, reliable operations and a consistently strong customer experience. His organization spans Security and Infrastructure, IT Service Management, and System Reliability, with a focus on service delivery discipline, incident readiness and response, platform resilience, and security practices that reduce risk while keeping delivery moving. With 24 years of IT experience, Kel is known for bringing clarity to complex problems, building durable systems, and showing up when it matters most for customers and teams.
Kel grew up in Iowa, Florida, and Arizona before his family ultimately put down roots in Waunakee, Wisconsin. Fun fact, it is the only Waunakee in the world. He earned his BBA in Management Information Systems from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire and returned to the Madison area to launch his IT career.
Today, Kel lives in Waunakee (Go Warriors!) with his wife, Abbey, their two children, Kate (12) and Kelly (9), and their two Goldendoodles, Obi (short for Obi-Wan Kenobi) and Chewy (short for Chewbacca). Despite spending most of his life in Wisconsin, he proudly supports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rather than the Green Bay Packers. This friendly rivalry has created a divided household, with Kel and Kate cheering for the Bucs, while Abbey and Kelly cheer for the Packers. In his free time, Kel enjoys spending time with extended family and friends, golfing when he can, and coaching his kids in youth sports. The whole family also loves a good Disney cruise.
Kel’s favorite Fundamental is Have a Bias for Action.
“Services and security reward momentum. When something matters, whether it is an incident, a risk, or a customer need, I would rather move with urgency, learn quickly, and iterate than wait for perfect information.”
